Adult
Counselling
Life can certainly throw a lot at us. And sometimes all at once! Whatever you’re going through, having a safe, supportive counselling relationship can help you uncover what is truly going on, and why. Talking out concerns, and problems from the past, can also help you understand where things may interconnect. And why you might be feeling stuck. Or repeating the same mistakes. You’ll also see how difficult life experiences and imprinted beliefs may negatively impact the way you think and feel in the here and now. Together we can identify how to bring about the positive changes you want, in a way that feels right for you.
Young Adult
Counselling
Your 20’s and 30’s are life-defining decades. They can also be challenging! It’s not uncommon to experience anxiety, over-thinking, self-doubt or depression. You may struggle with relationship difficulties, family tensions or work pressures. It can feel overwhelming! The good news is, that it’s an ideal time to look at what’s going on and how past experiences and beliefs may be negatively impacting your life in the present. You will be guided to explore what is working well for you, and what is not. Together we can identify what you want more of...less of... and none of! So that you can go about making the changes you want.
Adolescent
Counselling
Adolescence can be tough for teens. And for parents too! Anxiety, anger, mood swings, withdrawing and family conflict can ramp up. They may struggle to cope with friendships and frenemies, social media, bullying, parent separations, and a ‘longing for belonging’ with peers. ‘Escape behaviours’ commonly include overuse of devices and taking risks. ‘Advice’ may come from friends who are also struggling. It’s important that teens have a safe space to explore troubling thoughts, situations and emotions. And to build confidence, strengths and capabilities. Lynda has years of experience working with teens at private and public schools, and in private practice.
Parent
Counselling
Unfortunately parenting a teenager does not come with instructions. If only! During this life stage it’s natural that they experience emotional highs and lows. They may struggle with who they are, and who they want to be, while navigating connections with peers. To make things even harder, they are pulling away from their ‘dependent’ child relationship with you towards becoming independent. If you’re concerned about your teen you can book a free 20 minute call with Lynda. Whether you’re observing anxious behaviour, low mood, anger, low self-esteem or constant distraction with device overuse, it’s better to seek help sooner rather than later.
Family
Counselling
We are all impacted by our ever changing family situations. And it can be stressful navigating the highs and lows. You may be struggling to cope with work and teenagers. Or feeling ‘over-parented’ as a young adult. Or weighed down by a sibling’s expectations. Or estranged from a family member. Family therapy can help in understanding what is underlying difficulties and conflicts. It can also help you reconnect, even when it feels almost impossible. First appointments can be individual, so each person has space to openly explore their side of the problem. Then, when the time feels right, we can bring everyone together to find a better way forward.
